The Industrial Archaeological Park of Campacci di Marmore
The Industrial Archaeological Park of Campacci di Marmore is a real open-air museum: it is located near the Upper Belvedere of the Marmore Waterfall, along the path number 5.
The Park, placed in a particularly suggestive area that has also a significant landscape value, hosts some big artefacts coming from the hydroelectric plants of Galleto and Narni, such as turbines of the kinds Kaplan and Francis as well as flow distributors for turbines, kept for different years at the Maratta forest.
The project enhances the educational itinerary on the local hydroelectric plants that are already partially present at the Campacci, among the tanks used for collecting waters that then, through the penstocks, were taken down to the valley in order to produce the electricity necessary to operate the many plants in the Terni area, primarily the steel manufacturing company.
Tanks appear like imposing walls that have been abandoned, incorporated and hidden by vegetation, so to take on the aspect of a “ruin” nostalgically recalling an industrial past.
