Grande Presepe presso Mostra Internazionale di Arte Presepiale - Città di Castello

International Nativity Art Exhibition 2025

From 29 November 2025 to 6 January 2026, the evocative Crypt of the Cathedral Basilica of Città di Castello will host the 24th International Nativity Art Exhibition, one of the most prestigious events on the Italian and international artistic scene dedicated to the Nativity.
The exhibition, conceived and organised by the association Amici del Presepio “Gualtiero Angelini”, presents more than 170 works created by 64 artists and exhibitors from across Italy and abroad.
It offers a unique opportunity to admire masterpieces that reinterpret the Nativity through techniques, materials and styles from the finest Nativity art schools — including Naples, Catania, Tuscany, Lazio and Umbria — alongside international works and major private collections.

Among the most anticipated pieces:

  • a large Nativity scene from Lazio dedicated to the Jubilee and the 800th anniversary of St Francis,
  • a series of Venetian dioramas inspired by the monuments of Venice,
  • a collection of around 30 statues of the Infant Jesus created over the last 300 years,
  • a work by master artisan Vincenzo Saccardo from Avellino dedicated to the tabacchine, women who symbolise the region’s tobacco-processing tradition.

A special section is dedicated to the memory of Gualtiero Angelini, creator of the exhibition, on the tenth anniversary of his passing.
