In the monumental town of Vallo di Nera, an area covered with castles and villas, Fior di Cacio returns on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 June 2024, the market exhibition of quality artisan cheese production and Umbrian products.
An event, now in its 20th edition, conceived from the outset to restore value to an ancient craft typical of the Valnerina, that of the shepherd, worthy of being preserved and supported.
In an enviable natural setting, stalls will be set up to taste and sell the best Umbrian artisan cheeses: from barrel-ripened pecorino, to raw-milk primo sale, from the most refined goat's milk cheese to the sought-after salted ricotta of the Valnerina, among the main products of the pastoral tradition of these places.
In the stone village surrounded by woods and mountains, the cheese stalls will also mingle with other typical Umbrian foodstuffs, such as local pork products, truffles, saffron, pulses, wines, jams and traditional craftsmanship.
The Fior di Cacio event will also be an opportunity to get to know the rich cultural and natural heritage of Vallo di Nera and its surroundings, discovering the main historical-artistic and architectural testimonies of the town together with many possible open-air activities: rafting along the Nera river, excursions along the valley paths, donkey rides, children's initiatives and popular music concerts.
