Festa dell'Assunta 2025
Lugnano in Teverina will hold the Feast of the Assumption from August 9 to 31, 2025, a celebration rooted in centuries-old tradition linked to local history, faith, and culture. The festival, already documented in the ancient Municipal Statute of 1508, renews every year the ancient figure of the “Lord of the Feast,” appointed by the community to organize and support the celebrations. In 2025, on August 14, before the solemn procession, Mayor Alessandro Dimiziani, together with the local councilors and the mayors of the surrounding area, will participate in the statutory reenactment by offering the candle to the Collegiate Church, following ancient customs.
The program includes numerous cultural and entertainment events, such as the Cantagiro selection on August 14 and the traditional White Night on August 15 with music in the village squares. The schedule also features events dedicated to promoting local products, with the Taverna de lo Priore and the Taverna del Borgo offering medieval menus and traditional dishes in the heart of the historic center.
Highlights include the Vetulameria Festival (August 9), trekking with the Amerino organist (August 10), the Dinner of the Ghetto (August 12), Baroque and modern concerts, and the Literary Prize “Scrittori in Erba” (August 23). The Feast concludes with the Festa della Croce Verde on August 30 and 31, confirming the event as a moment of sharing and rediscovery of the roots of one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages.
