Buongiorno Ceramica!

On 18 and 19 May, Deruta, Città di castello, Gubbio and Gualdo Tadino will host the tenth edition of "Buongiorno Ceramica", an event that will take place simultaneously in 57 Italian cities, as well as abroad.
This year's event will be entirely dedicated to Made in Italy artistic and artisan ceramics, whose objective is the exaltation of ancient local traditions with an eye to different contemporary sensibilities.
Deruta will open up to citizens and tourists to tell the story of the life of a ceramist, of the handmade and of the entire supply chain, from creativity to modelling, from firing to glazing, as a symbol of the most beautiful and industrious Italy.
The programme of events that will take place in the historic centre between Piazza dei Consoli, the Regional Ceramics Museum and the former Granary, focuses particularly on two events: the exhibition of the international artist Ioana Maria Sisea and the collective exhibition 'Incontrinterra'. There will also be a series of artistic, recreational and educational initiatives, including the exhibition "Artist for a day", at the Liceo artistico "Alpinolo Magnini", consisting of works or processed works by the students of the Liceo, and "Ceramist for a day", at the Chiostro di San Francesco, which will offer the opportunity to attend workshops and demonstrations of potter's wheel and painting and then experience first-hand the use of this machinery and receive the certificate of ceramist for a day.
Also Città di Castello, on 18 and 19 May, will say "Buongiorno Ceramica" (Good Morning Ceramics) with coffee cups in vintage and contemporary style that will embellish the windows of the bars along the promenade that caresses the monuments and Renaissance residences of the historic centre. On the occasion of the tenth edition of the event, the unique creations born from the inspiration of 20 artists from the area of Città di Castello will be the protagonists of 'Tazzinart', a project that aims to enhance the talent of all those who live, work and enjoy ceramics in Città di Castello, reflecting generations and transversal artistic languages.
Masters with consolidated experience are involved in the project, as well as young apprentices, who together are able to offer original and creative solutions. The creations will be exhibited until 16 June in the participating bars in the historic centre, and can be booked for purchase at the end of the exhibition period.
On 18 May, a series of collateral initiatives will also kick off that will animate the city centre, highlighting the historical and current artistic production of ceramics in the city of Todi. The exhibition "Sciamani" (Shamans) by Luca Baldelli, which will be inaugurated at 5.00 p.m. in the atrium of the City Hall in Piazza Gabriotti, from 18 to 30 May, will highlight the latest research of the artist from Todi, characterised by the recovery of the element of the ogive, for its symbolic value traditionally associated with the destructive power of weapons, but also with sacred architecture with pointed vaults.
"Tra le Nuvole" will be the dialogue created between Fanette Cardinali's ceramics and the Tipografia Grifani Donati, active since 1799. An exchange of traditions between ceramics and printing, arts that have historically characterised the production systems of Città di Castello.  At 6 p.m., "Terra d'Arte" will be opened, the exhibition that from 18 to 30 May will be set up at the historic "Spazio Baldelli Arte".
An authentic 'gem' of the programme will be offered by the possibility of a free visit to the historical collection of ceramics hosted at Studio Pillitu Meroni on Sunday 19 May.

Gualdo Tadino, in collaboration with the city's Polo Museale, is also taking part in the Italian ceramics weekend and is presenting two days full of events.
A project that also involves children with an experience entitled "Le mani in pasta", a fun ceramic workshop, which will take place on Sunday 19 May from 3.00 p.m. at the Mediateca spaces in Via Soprammuro. Throughout the weekend it will be possible to admire the artistic ceramics that are part of the "diffuse ceramics museum" project, which includes the ceramics section of the Rocca Flea Civic Museum, the Casa Cajani Ceramics Museum and the Opificio Rubboli Museum.
Over the two days, visitors will be able to discover a rich museum itinerary, starting from the ancient Opificio Rubboli, where on Saturday 18 May at 4 p.m. Maurizio Tittarelli Rubboli, heir to the ceramic tradition of the Rubboli factory and curator of the Museum, will lead visitors to discover the secrets of lustrous majolica.

On Saturday 18 May, at the Museo Civico Palazzo dei Consoli in Gubbio, visitors can take part in a guided tour to discover an important ceramic collection, illustrating the history of Gubbio majolica from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Among the most important works are six plates from the workshop of Mastro Giorgio Andreoli, a master of the lustre technique. The exhibition also features archaic majolica, apothecary's ware, works from the 19th century and pieces from other Italian and foreign production centres.
