The Unveiled Stained Glass of San Domenico by Paolo Ficola

In Perugia, from 10 September to 20 October 2025, the exhibition The Unveiled Stained Glass of San Domenico by Paolo Ficola is hosted in the former Church of Misericordia in Via Oberdan 54. The opening takes place on Wednesday 10 September at 5:30 p.m. and presents a complete photographic documentation of the renowned stained glass window of San Domenico, one of the largest Gothic windows in Italy.

The exhibition focuses on the 24 depictions of saints, created in the fifteenth century by Mariotto di Nardo, reproduced in life-size format with a special backlit effect that allows visitors to appreciate the proportions and details as they originally appeared. The project is based on the idea of “unveiling” the stained glass, making visible images that have long been partially obscured by iron structures installed after the collapse of the church roof in 1600, thus revealing the authentic composition of the figures.

With this work, Paolo Ficola continues his artistic and photographic research, offering the city a project of significant cultural and historical value that allows the rediscovery of an important iconographic heritage. The exhibition is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with free admission.
