Il Cammino dei Protomartiri Francescani

The route of the Franciscan Pro-martyrs

In the month of October there are a series of initiatives planned to discover the Route of the Franciscan Pro-martyrs, the first martyrs of the Franciscan Order killed in Morocco on the 16th January 1220, whose remains are conserved in the Sanctuary of the Chiesa di Sant'Antonio da Padova in Terni.

Walks, meetings and tastings along this charming route that covers the places of origin of the five pro-martyrs amongst churches, sanctuaries, convents and ancient abbeys. The first appointment scheduled is a pilgrimage from the Chiesa di Santa Pudenziana in Visciano to Narni, on Sunday 18th October: a day to discover the area's beauty and attractions like the Rocca Albornoz or Narni Underground, with guided visits organised for the occasion. Instead on Sunday 25th October is a route leaving from Colle d'Oro heading towards the Santuario dei Protomartiri Francescani at the Chiesa di Sant'Antonio in Terni. Lastly, on the 31st October, the 7th and 14th November, there are three meetings planned in the areas around Stroncone, San Gemini and Calvi dell'Umbria to present the itinerary.
