The exhibition “Il respiro del legno” by Austrian sculptor Herbert Golser is on view at Palazzo della Corgna in Castiglione del Lago from 25 September to 9 November 2025. Produced by Lagodarte Impresa Sociale, it offers an immersive experience that connects contemporary art with Renaissance history.

In the frescoed rooms painted by Niccolò Circignani, known as Il Pomarancio, Golser’s sculptures engage in a dialogue with the palace’s Mannerist decorations, balancing the lightness of wood with the strength of painted imagery. His artistic process is based on deep listening to the material: the wood is hollowed out, thinned, and brought to the edge of its resistance until it becomes almost transparent.

Each sculpture emerges from a process of subtraction and meditation, giving the material a fragile and spiritual dimension. Among the ancient stones and frescoes of the palace, visitors are invited to rediscover the hidden breath of wood and a slower sense of time, in a contemplative dialogue between nature and silence.
