In Assisi, on Sunday 22 November 2026, the San Francesco Marathon takes place, a road running event included in the programme of the celebrations for the Eighth Franciscan Centenary. The event features a road course that crosses the Assisi area, alternating between urban and extra-urban sections.

The route is designed to welcome participants with different levels of preparation, offering a continuous and flowing race. The 2026 programme includes several competitive distances, namely the 42 km marathon, the 21 km half marathonand the 10 km, alongside a non-competitive 10 km.

Alongside the competitive races, the Vieni con me initiative is also planned, a family run organised as a solidarity walk and open to a wider public. The event therefore combines sporting activity with moments of shared participation, addressing both runners and those who wish to take part in a more accessible way.
