Nativity and Medieval Crafts

The ‘Nativity and Medieval Crafts’ initiative, organised by the five Magnificent Districts of the city of Perugia (Porta Eburnea, Porta Sant'Angelo, Porta Sole, Porta San Pietro, Porta Santa Susanna) together with the Compagnia del Grifoncello, will be held on Sunday 29 December from 4 to 7 p.m. in Perugia, at the Cloister of San Lorenzo Cathedral.
It is a scenic representation animated by figurants in historical costumes, a journey set in the telling of a story, to signify how the Nativity - in this case transferred to the Middle Ages - is contemporary to all times.
Following the story of Mary of Nazareth with scenes of everyday life in the towns of Nazareth, Jerusalem and, in particular, Bethlehem, the set design includes a reconstruction of the square with the market, domestic activities, trades, craftsmen, workshops, fire, and pilgrims. Each scene will be repeated in movement in a historical but real way, commented by Gospel passages and descriptions inspired by the Holy Scriptures.
Admission is free.
