From 6 December to 6 January, Spello hosts a rich calendar of initiatives that welcome residents and visitors throughout the Christmas period, with events centred on culture, tradition, and community. The programme opens with presentations, talks and musical moments, followed by concerts, theatre performances, children’s activities, screenings and opportunities for social gatherings that animate the squares, streets and cultural venues of the historic centre. Among the most anticipated moments are the lighting of the Christmas illuminations and the traditional Living Nativity, which winds through the town’s main streets and ancient Roman gates.

At the heart of the town is the 25th edition of “Spello in Presepe”, a widespread trail of artistic Nativity scenes that transforms the centre into an open-air museum, enriched by installations, exhibitions and creative displays. Activities for children take place at the Villa dei Mosaici, where educational workshops allow young participants to explore materials and techniques inspired by local artistic traditions. Concerts, readings, contemporary circus performances and community events complete a month of initiatives designed to engage audiences of all ages.
