The Santa Claus Canoe Descent - 42nd edition
An event that has been repeated for 42 years is waiting for you in Città di Castello: the Father Christmas Canoe Descent.
The appointment is for Sunday 25 December when some twenty canoeists dressed as Father Christmas will plough the waters of the Tiber aboard canoes lit by torches, candles and small lights.
The descent ends in the vicinity of the hanging crib set up on either side of where the sky will light up thanks to a fireworks display.
On arrival, it will be possible to enjoy mulled wine, while small gifts and sweets will be provided for the children.
The various moments of the afternoon will be enlivened by the music of Maestro Fabio Battistelli on clarinet, accompanied by Anthony Guerrini on guitar, in an improvised and natural stage just a few metres from the river banks.
Tradition, history, music, festivities and a great deal of solidarity thanks to the presence of the 'butterflies', the breast-operated women of the Aacc (Altotevere Association against Cancer) who, weather permitting, will take to the water dressed as Father Christmas aboard their 'dragon boat' to help out their more experienced and tested colleagues from the Città di Castello Canoe Club.
