On 1, 2, 3, 4 and 14 August, the 6th edition of the Palio dell'Assunta will be held in Lugnano in Teverina.
The historical commemoration is dedicated to the patron saint, Santa Maria Assunta, and aims to revive the history of the ancient village based on the transcripts of the 14th-century municipal statute.
On the opening day of 1 August, at 18:30, the ‘Reading of the Announcement’ will take place in Piazza Santa Maria.
Further events will take place during the week: on 1 August at 21. 15 at the Collegiate Church, the investiture of the archers, with the young archers of the four contrade being invested as knights to the cavalry; on 2 August at 6 pm the ‘Palio del Popolo’, with an archery competition open to the public, in Piazza della Rocca, followed at 9.30 pm by the performance of the ‘Gruppo Musici’; on 3 August at 9 pm: 30, one can take part in the ‘Fire Show’ of ‘La compagnia de lo Grifone’ from Narni; on 4 August, at 22:00, the ‘Palio dell'Assunta’ will be contested, during which the archers of the four districts Turris, Lapis in Gloria, Loggias and Campum Florum will compete for the silver ring.
The event will end on 14 August with the ‘handover of the Candle to the Altar of the Assumption’ by the municipality of Terra di Lugnano.
