Fountain in Piazza Silvestri - Bevagna

The fountain was inaugurated on August 23, 1896; it was built over a medieval well that was used to provide water to the city's historic center.

At the behest of the population and with the consent of the municipal administration, a vote was taken in 1889 to install a new aqueduct and build the “Monumental Fountain of Piazza Silvestri” in place of the old well. Thus, on 6th May 1894, the municipal council of the time decided to abandon the project for the “del Monte” pipeline, which was deemed too costly for the municipal coffers and insufficient to meet the city’s water needs.
