Festival of Classical Music
From the 12th to the 27th August, the inspiring setting of Corgna Palace in Castiglione del Lago is going to host the 13th edition of the Festival of Classical Music that will offer, as always, a schedule rich with concerts that will be able to satisfy all tastes.
The festival will be opened by the famous pianist Stefano Ragni, together with the sopranos Myung Jae Kho and Anna Consolaro as well as the tenor Claudio Rocchi.
The programme will then go on with other big guests: Alessandro Bistarelli, Sebastiano Brusco, Christian De la Fontaine and Adalberto Maria Riva until the theatre evening with the Neapolitan actress Anna Maria Ackermann.
Corgna Palace raises in Piazza Gramsci in the historical centre of Castiglione del Lago and is connected, through a covered walkway, to the beautiful medieval fortress overlooking the Trasimeno Lake.
Born as hunting lodge of the Baglioni family, it was then readjusted by Ascanio della Cogna to the aristocratic residence of his family.
The building presents a monumental 1500 façade preceded by a staircase and by beautifully decorated interiors.
Notably important is the broad pictorial decoration executed by artists such as Niccolò Circignani called “The Pomarancio”.
