Encuentro 2025
From May 29 to June 2, 2025, Perugia and Castiglione del Lago will host the twelfth edition of Encuentro, a festival dedicated to Spanish-language literatures.
Among the featured guests: Nicola Lagioia, with a lectio magistralis on Pedro Páramo by Juan Rulfo; Pilar del Río in conversation with Marino Sinibaldi; Jonathan Coe, presenting his new novel La prova della mia innocenza; and Paco Taibo II, who will close the festival alongside Alessandro Barbero.
The program will combine literature with reflection on global issues: discussions will address Gaza, the recognition of the State of Palestine, academic freedom, and the shifting global order, with contributions from voices such as Paola Caridi, Micaela Frulli, Carlo Greppi, Greta Cristini, Simona Maggiorelli, Christian Raimo, and others.
There will also be presentations of Italian and Spanish-language books (including Carlo Greppi, Loredana Lipperini, David Trueba), a Mexican dinner with tequila tasting, a table football tournament, events with local book clubs, and activities with Umbrian libraries.
Encuentro also involves local schools through the Tralci project, with seven institutions and over five hundred students participating in meetings with writers such as Amets Arzallus, Juan Pablo Villalobos, and Paco Taibo II.
