Central Italy - Exhibition of Ancient Cartography

The exhibition “Central Italy - The historical cartography of Central Italy from the 16th to the 19th century in the private collections” will be open until the 9th July in Civitella del Lago.

 


The exhibition collects authentic rarities for a total of about 40 original geographical maps of the Central Italy, such as the Italian map of Giacomo Gastaldi (1561), the rare lafrerian map (dated around 1585) ‘Paesi Tutti lacque dè quali vengono a Roma’ (Countries whose all waters reach Rome), ‘Italy’ by Matteo Greuter (1675), the “New Map of the Vatican State” by Boscovich (1755), the “General Map of the Theatre of War in Italy” by Albert Ghislaine Bachler d’Albe (1798) and the big mural map by Giovanni Maria Cassini (1805).

Beyond the exhibition, the schedule also includes a series of side initiatives, such as focuses and conferences.

Belvedere Square

- Conference by Piero Giorgi and Carla Cicioni, authors of the volume “Central Italy”
