Camera Oscura: Gianni Berengo Gardin and Mario Giacomelli
Two exhibitions make up the programme of Camera Oscura, the space of the Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria in Perugia dedicated to photography.
The first, from 23 May to 28 September, will present a selection of images from the work that Gianni Berengo Gardin did in the house where Giorgio Morandi (1890-1964) had long lived with his sisters and painted until his death. Morandi's studio, as the title suggests, will focus on the studio-bedroom of the Bolognese artist photographed with all its objects, some of them protagonists of the artist's paintings.
Camera Oscura's 2025 season will conclude with a second appointment, dedicated to Mario Giacomelli, completing the cycle of exhibitions that have paid tribute to the master from Senigallia on the occasion of the centenary of his birth. Under the title Mario Giacomelli: red poppies, some unpublished and exceptionally colour shots will be presented to the public - Giacomelli is mostly known for his black and whites with almost exaggerated contrasts - with a reference to the famous ‘pretini’ inspired by the figure of Father Turoldo.
