I Gelati d'Italia – ("Ice Creams of Italy")
From the 23rd April to the 1st April the "Gelati d'Italia" festival is back in Orvieto.
The event combines promoting the Italian tradition of handmade gelato with highlighting the beauty of one of Umbria's quintessential towns. Tastings, cultural initiatives, exhibitions and social events will be taking place in piazzas and historic palazzos throughout the centre of Orvieto.
Piazza Duomo, Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza del Popolo will be enlivened by the event stands offering tastings, whilst Palazzo dei Sette will be welcoming the ice-cream makers "Gelatieri della Valle di Zoldo" who, as in 2015, will be organising ice cream making demonstrations using old-fashioned machines as well as tastings.
The World Champion ice sculptor, Francesco Falasconi, will be returning to the event, making wonderful ice sculptures every day, whilst the "Città Slow" Association and the Comitato degli Artigiani (Craftsmen's Committee) will be setting up a market selling local food products and the "Mercati dell'Artigianato" craft fairs respectively.
