The days of Glass

The days of Glass

From the 12th to the 14th August "The days of Glass" is coming back in Piegaro: three days full of appointments to discover the handicraft tradition of the glassmaking art among music, history and food and wine.

The scheduled initiatives are a lot: laboratories of blown glass processing, tastings of typical products among the artistic and cultural treasures of the village, historical reenactments with parades and ancient ceremonies, renaissance dinners, exhibitions, concerts along the alleys and squares of the historical centre.

The Glass Museum in Piegaro

The Glass Museum in Piegaro is located inside the ancient glass factory dating back to the first years of the 1800, in the historical centre of the village.

The building has been renovated by maintaining the same architecture and layout of rooms, in order to reconstruct faithfully the old factory. The restoration work has indeed safeguarded the buildings' peculiarities, highlighting and enhancing the architectural structure and its contents: the chimney, the melting furnace with the last fusion's solidified glass, the tunnels for the heat recovery, the ventilation and cooling ducts.

It represents one of the few Italian preserved examples of pre-industrial structures for the glass production.

In exhibition there are the glass artefacts here produced throughout centuries.
