Umbria Antica Festival 2026

In Todi, from March 27 to 29, 2026, a new edition of Umbria Antica Festival will take place, dedicated to the theme “The Taste of History.” The main events will be held at the Palazzo del Capitano, with evening events at the Teatro Nido dell’Aquila and the Teatro Comunale di Todi.

The program features three days of talks and discussions on the relationship between food and ancient civilizations. Scholars and speakers will address topics such as the symbolic meaning of food, markets and banquets in the Roman world, vine and wine culture, olive oil and spices, and the role of taste and culinary practices in history. Some contributions will focus on Imperial Rome, political consensus, material culture, and the presence of antiquity in contemporary culture.

Alongside the lectures, the section “The Taste of History – Authors’ Tastings” will offer thematic insights. The Book Fair, hosted in the Sala delle Pietre at Palazzo del Capitano, will accompany the three days of the festival with free admission.

The festival also includes guided tours of the Roman Cisterns and the archaeological section of the Civic Museum of Todi, as well as an educational walk in the Parco degli Olivi della Consolazione dedicated to olive cultivation.
