Arrival in Umbria and accommodation in 3* Hotel / Agriturismo, free lunch and in the afternoon, visit of Santa Maria Degli Angeli on your own (suggested visit).

Inside the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, at the foot of Assisi, is the "Portiuncula", a small church restored by St. Francis in which, in 1209, the saint founded the Order of Friars Minor, entrusting it to the protection of the Virgin Mary. The Porziuncola is the heart of Franciscanism, the place where Francis discussed the 'Rule' of the order with his friars and sought new blood for preaching the Gospel in the world. The Basilica complex also houses the Rose Courtyard. According to sources, one night Francis, gripped by doubt and temptation, rolled among the brambles of the Rose Garden to test himself and not give in to what could have separated him from God and his mission. Upon contact with the saint's skin, the roses changed into thornless roses, giving rise to the Rosa Canina Assisiensis, which has continued to bloom only at the Portiuncula since then.

Around 8:30 p.m. - Rich welcome dinner with excellent local products and drinks included in a restaurant selected by us. After dinner, return to accommodation and overnight stay.

Breakfast at the agritourism/hotel and departure for Rasiglia (suggested visit) for an independent walk through its historic centre, criss-crossed by water springs that make the place unique in Umbria. Afterwards, we meet up with our expert truffle hunter with whom we will enjoy a very special activity: an authentic truffle hunt assisted by his trusty truffle dog. You will learn all about this product of the earth, the different types there are, their uses in cooking, cultivation, searching with the dog, and much more. After the approximately one-hour experience, a delicious tasting-lunch in the woods with excellent local products including truffles - drinks included.

In the afternoon, we suggest a visit to the wonderful village of Spello in freedom. After the visit of Spello, return to accommodation, free dinner and overnight stay.

Good morning! Today, the last day of our adventure, following breakfast in the hotel/farmhouse, we recommend a visit to Assisi in freedom.

Pax et Bonum! This is the greeting with which Assisi welcomes you, a Franciscan place par excellence, not only in Umbria and Italy, but throughout the world. St Francis was in fact born in Assisi in 1182; in the place where it is believed his birthplace was located, today stands the Chiesa Nuova. It is in Assisi that he was baptised, in the Cathedral of San Rufino, it is among its alleys that he spent his youth dreaming of a future as a valiant knight, it is here, where the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore stands today, in the Piazza del Vescovado, that he stripped himself, repudiating earthly goods for love of God and his brothers and sisters. It is still in Assisi, in the Church of San Damiano, that praying before the crucifix, he receives the task of renewing the Church of Christ, it is in the town square that he begins his preaching and his work of charity and peace, and it is finally here that he dies in 1226. His remains are preserved in the Basilica of St Francis, but the saint still lives on in every stone of Assisi. Stroll through its enchanting alleys and visit the Franciscan sites.
