Umbria, the land of great saints: Saint Francis, Saint Claire, Saint Benedict, Saint Rita and Saint Valentine, and many others. Walk in their footsteps to better understand their lives, their places of birth, or simply to meditate and pray where they once did.

Umbria is where many saints were born and raised, it offers you places dedicated to them, like basilicas, crypts, sanctuaries, but it also offers a mystic, peaceful landscape in which to spend some precious time in prayer and meditation.

Prayer is a deeply personal experience and communion with God and His saints can take place in many different ways. The Umbrian spiritual itineraries were created to offer you an insight into one of the many aspects of this Region, which has always been linked to the values of peace, focused on spirituality and prayer, aspects to which its history and culture over the centuries has been closely linked.

Saint Francis is the Patron Saint of Italy. He was born in Assisi and it was from here that he spread the universal message that so affected the history of all of humanity.

Umbria is also the birthplace of Saint Benedict, and there are many abbeys and monasteries where you can go and experience his monastic precept of Ora et labora, or "Pray and work."

Saint Rita of Cascia is known the world over as "the saint of impossible causes."

The Venerable Mother Speranza founded the Sanctuary of Merciful Love to bear permanent witness to a God who pardons the sins of his penitent children.
