Treasures from the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Perugia Collection and Caravaggisti works in Perugia's art collections
From Perugino to Pinturicchio: the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Perugia celebrates twenty years of art collecting and, for the occasion, is putting its masterpieces on display with the joint exhibition "I Tesori della Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Perugia e il caravaggismo nelle collezioni di Perugia".
It is a unique event which allows you to admire both the most important pieces of the collection, as well as a selection of Caravaggesque paintings belonging to public and private collections in the capital of Umbria.
The first is a collection of about fifty paintings of great importance, representative not only of the artistic experiences which were established in Umbria over four centuries, from the 14th century to the 18th century, as well as of other aspects of Italian figurative culture from the Renaissance to the Baroque.
The patrimony has been divided into seven themed sections: landscapes, still life, the foundation's most recent acquisitions, as well as Renaissance Umbrian paintings and Franciscan iconography.
Instead, the part dedicated to Caravaggio brings together a series of works of the highest calibre kept in Perugia, including a large painting by Giusto Fiammingo, depicting "La fuga del giovane nudo" (The Flight of the Young Naked Man), owned by the Galleria dei Gerosolimitani in Via dei Priori.
