Sociook
From 6 July to 22 September 2024 it will be possible to visit Giorgio Cesarini's installation 'Sociook' at the Chapel of Palazzo Lucarini, in Trevi.
It is the tenth episode of the 'Boys don't cry gallery' series.
The installation consists of some special cakes made by specially selected 'mothers'. The cakes follow an aesthetic that refers to the ''angelic'' figures protagonists of the Japanese Anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, which gradually deteriorate in the course of the exhibition. Instead, the title alludes to the potential toxicity of mother-child relationship dynamics. The cake, in fact, is at the same time synonymous with maternal care, but also, and above all, a metaphor for the family logic of identity construction, role and conditioning capable of leading to over-socialisation in order to adapt one's own child to the social system of reference, with sometimes dramatic consequences, as witnessed by the story of Theodore Kaczinsky from which the artist draws inspiration.
