Canonization of Carlo Acutis
Rome is preparing to experience a historic moment of deep spirituality and widespread public participation with the canonisation of Blessed Carlo Acutis, scheduled for 7 September.
This young man, who passed away prematurely in 2006 and was known for his profound faith combined with a passion for computers, will be proclaimed a saint in the Eternal City, the heart of Christianity and the centre of the Church’s solemn celebrations.
Carlo Acutis, often referred to as the “millennial saint” for his ability to use modern communication tools to spread the Gospel and for his deep devotion to the Eucharist, stands as a contemporary model of sainthood, close to the younger generations.
His beatification, which took place in Assisi in 2020, already sparked worldwide interest and devotion, and his upcoming canonisation is awaited as an event of universal significance.
Assisi, where the future saint’s mortal remains are kept and which profoundly shaped his spiritual journey, remains a symbolic place in his life and will continue to welcome faithful and pilgrims wishing to pay tribute to this young witness of faith.
