In Monteleone d’Orvieto, from August 12 to 16, 2025, one of the most heartfelt and well-attended events of local tradition returns: the Historical Parade and the Palio del Carro. With over 40 years of history, the event involves the entire village in a reenactment that celebrates identity, collective memory, and community spirit.

The streets of the historic center are transformed into a setting from another era, animated by over 400 participants in period costumes, representing the two city houses ready to compete for the coveted Palio.

The program, part of the Umbrichelli Festival and Homecoming, features four main events that set the rhythm of the celebration and lead the community toward the grand finale. It begins on August 12 with the Reading of the Palio del Carro Proclamation and Launch of the Challenge, a moment when the duel between the houses ignites with rhyming verses and symbolic gestures.
On August 14, in the Church of SS. Apostles Peter and Paul, the Blessing of the Cart Racers takes place—a rite that intertwines faith, history, and collective effort. Finally, on August 16, the village gathers for the much-anticipated Historical Parade and Palio del Carro, when the peasant symbol of the cart once again becomes the centerpiece of the challenge and the celebration.
