And a Miracle Was Born. Contemporary Visions in the Sign of Saint Francis
Castiglione del Lago, from 4 December 2025 to 15 March 2026, Palazzo della Corgna hosts the exhibition And a Miracle Was Born, an exhibition project inspired by the figure of Saint Francis that anticipates the celebrations of the eighth centenary of his death and forms part of a broader reflection on the cultural legacy of Angelo Sodini.
The exhibition title recalls a phrase by Sodini, whose 150th anniversary of birth is being marked, and brings together contemporary art, historical avant-gardes and immersive languages, creating a narrative that intertwines spirituality, vision and artistic research. The exhibition unfolds through paintings, sculptures and site-specific installations, combined with light-based works and video environments offering a contemporary interpretation of the Franciscan message.
Alongside the contemporary section, the exhibition includes a historical focus linked to the Franciscan celebrations of 1926, highlighting Angelo Sodini’s cultural role and his dialogue with Gabriele D’Annunzio through unpublished texts and archival materials. A central presence is also given to Gerardo Dottori, a key figure of Italian Futurism, represented by original works that explore the relationship between avant-garde art and spirituality.
Immersive video installations complete the exhibition path, guiding visitors through a sensory experience of images, light and sound, and offering a contemporary visual narrative of Saint Francis. And a Miracle Was Born thus presents a thoughtful exploration of the dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity through art.
