LXVI Settimana di Studi sull'Alto Medioevo

LXVI Week of Study on the Early Middle Ages

The LXVI Week of Study on the Early Middle Ages will focus on will be held from 5 to 11 April 2018 at Albornoz Palace Hotel. This year's theme will be: “Migration in the Early Middle Ages”.

The LXVI Week of Study does not plan to analyse medieval mobility, but rather the true migration processes, the displacements in which the places of departure and the new settlements can be verified.

Displacements not of individuals but of human groups, of possibly fluid variable composition, but which have a collective social relevance. Space will be given, in particular, to this dimension paying attention to the migration of customs, models, social practices, objects, cultural competences, images. A first part of the week will be devoted to the ethnic anthropological aspects. A second part to the most relevant 'cases' of mass migration and their social consequences. A third part to what the migrations transfer from a region to the other.

Spoleto's Fondazione Centro Italiano Centro di Studi sull'Alto Medioevo is a noble cultural institution that prints books on the Middle Ages and it is considered a solid point of reference in worldwide medieval research providing, through the Week of Study, an opportunity for academics and enthusiasts to meet and debate at the highest level.
