From 1 to 25 February 2026, in Avigliano Umbro, Montecastrilli, Massa Martana and Castel dell’Aquila, Il Trionfo del Carnevale takes place, a cultural programme dedicated to the Umbrian masks of the Commedia dell’Arte and to Carnival traditions. The initiative involves theatres, cultural venues, schools and local organisations, offering a series of events that bring together performance, place and participation.

The Umbrian masks Nasotorto, Rosalinda, Nasoacciaccato and Chicchirichella guide visitors through a journey into theatre and popular imagination, with performances, improvisations and live acts. Particular attention is given to schools, with shows designed for younger audiences, introducing them to theatrical language and Carnival traditions in a clear and engaging way.

Alongside theatrical events, Carnival also finds expression in everyday life through food-related experiences inspired by the masks and by traditional seasonal flavours, with dishes and recipes linked to Carnival customs. On some occasions, theatre and convivial moments come together, creating opportunities for shared experiences.

The programme also includes moments dedicated to creativity and to the symbolic memory of Carnival, leading up to the closing events that mark the transition from the festive period to Lent.
