From Giotto to Morandi. Art treasures of Foundations and Italian Banks

From Giotto to Morandi

From 11th April to 15th September 2017 Baldeschi Palace, in Perugia, is going to host "From Giotto to Morandi. Art treasures of Foundations and Italian Banks", an extraordinary collection of artworks coming from collections of Foundations and Italian Banks.

The exhibition, promoting the rich artistic heritage owned by Foundations of banking origin and by Italian Banks, offers an itinerary crossing seven centuries of art history.

Ninety artworks will give life to a collection that, for the diversity of its composition and for its temporal stratification, can be considered the historical and cultural face of different territories of our peninsula: from Giotto, the artist who shed new light on painting, to Giorgio Morandi, who was able to inject a calm and austere solemnity to the simple everyday objects.

Between these two poles, it's possible to admire the artworks of more or less known masters belonging to the main "schools" composing the peculiar and complex "artistic geography" of our nation: Beato Angelico, Perugino, Pinturicchio, Matteo da Gualdo, Ludovico Carracci, Giovanni Francesco Guerreri, Giovanni Lanfranco, Guercino, Pietro Novelli, Giovanni Domenico Cerrini, Luca Giordano, Antonio Balestra, Giovanni Antonio Pellegrini, Bernardo Bellotto, Pompeo Batoni, Angelica Kauffmann, Giuseppe De Nittis, Giovanni Boldini, Angelo Morbelli, Leonardo Bistolfi, Carlo Carrà, Filippo de Pisis, Gerardo Dottori, to name just the most famous names.

The exhibition represents a broad overview on the topics addressed by the artists, from the sacred topic to allegorical and mythological representations, from the portraiture genre to the one of landscape and dead nature.
