Umbria in Voce 2024
The 10th edition of the "Umbria in Voce" festival will be held from 22 June to 8 September 2024 with three retreats, in Gualdo Tadino, Casacastalda, Scheggia and Pascelupo and Gubbio.
The festival will be a point of reference for people of all ages and backgrounds interested in experimenting the use of the voice in all its forms: singing, theatre, reading aloud, holistic disciplines, art therapy, artistic and personal growth. This year's festival investigates the link between voice, healing and spirituality; singing and vocal practices as wellbeing of the person and the community: the intimate, mystical dimension, of afflatus with nature of the city of Gubbio and the territories involved, will serve as a backdrop for the training experiences offered, with teachers coming from all over Italy, favouring the rediscovery and enhancement of small towns, of hidden places, with a landscape approach, of openness and inclusion.
To inaugurate this tenth edition, Umbria in Voce will open with three retreats "Between Nature and Word": the first meeting will be held on Saturday 22 June. A silent meditation walk will open the programme, starting at 9:00 a.m. from the Hermitage of Serra Santa di Gualdo Tadino. This will be followed by the haiku writing workshop "The Words of Silence", organised by Antonella Giacon, from 11:00 to 13:00. After lunch, two workshops will be held: one of art-therapy, by Francesca Nicchi ("Poetry in the hands", from 15:00 to 17:00), and one of singing, by vocal trainer and artistic director of the festival Claudia Fofi ("Poetry in the voice" from 17:00 to 18:00). The day will end with a concert by the Ensemble La Douss'aura at 9.30 p.m. at the monumental complex of San Francesco in Gualdo Tadino. The second retreat will take place on Saturday 29 June, but this time the morning nature walk will start - again at 9:00 a.m. - from Casacastalda to Monte Serra. The "Mindfulness and Voice" workshop with Federico Giubilei will then take place, from 11:00 to 12:00, followed by a shared lunch and return to Casacastalda. From 15:00 to 17:30, poet Simona Possenti will hold a writing workshop inspired by the Franciscan Lauds entitled "Laudato si" in the square. At 6.30 pm, the event "The balm of words" will close the day, with the participation of the vocal ensemble "Le Voci del Chiascio".
The third scheduled meeting is scheduled for Sunday 28 July in Scheggia and Pascelupo. The start of the day will be entrusted to the seminar by Sista Bramini, with her "Nel flusso del narrare. Workshop of practical introduction to the art of narrating", at the Abbey of Sant'Emiliano in Congiuntoli (from 10:00 to 16:00). At 9 p.m., at the Piazzetta di Scheggia, the storyteller Ljuba Scudieri will bring her Campania tale on the relationship between voice and resurrection-healing "The Griffon Bird, or how bones can be resurrected". A public poetic oratorio will conclude the day, at the same venue, from 9.30 pm.
The Festival will then start again from 4 August until 8 September, with meetings dedicated to raising awareness of eating disorders, concerts, performances, workshops and seminars.
