Festival delle Corrispondenze XXII edition

The twelfth edition of the Festival of Correspondences will open with two previews on 2 and 3 September, at the Sala dei Notari of Perugia and Villa del Colle del Cardinale, and then continue, from Tuesday 5 to Sunday, September 10, in its historical setting in Monte del Lago, in Magione.

The event was born as part of the National Victory Prize Aganoor Pompilj reserved for letters and correspondence. Recount art through the discreet charm of correspondence; retrace the life stories of its protagonists through a written word capable of acting as a testimony and enlighten genius and personal emotion; return historical authenticity to the voice of artists. These are some of the suggestions that animate the program that every year is offered to the public.

There is also no lack of comparisons with the most pressing challenges in the field of contemporary communication, where the irony of online satire is counterpointed by the language of hatred, violence and discrimination, which goes hand in hand with a worrying impoverishment of the linguistic heritage of the community.

As every year, the Festival will decline historical research, civic engagement, memorial narration and debate on the present through the many potentialities offered by letters, correspondence, trying to witness the manifest urgency of rebuilding squares capable of conveying and disseminating culture in the highest sense of the term.

In detail, the program includes two previews, Saturday, September 2 in Perugia, at the Sala dei Notari, meeting with Corrado Augias who will be the first to receive the award, set up in this edition, entitled "The 10 most beautiful letters in history".

Sunday, September 3, at Villa del Colle del Cardinale, the meeting "Correspondences from war" with Francesca Mannocchi, journalist and writer and Arianna Ciccone, founder of the International Journalism Festival and Blue Suitcase.

From 5 to 10 September, in Monte del Lago, controversial and interesting topics will be discussed in the square about the present, beyond the history and cultural anniversaries.

There will be more than 25 events, all with free admission, including seminars, round tables, reading, book presentations, lectures, theater performances, as well as literary walks, workshops and appointments for children.
