From 7th to 22nd June 2025, Acquasparta will host a new edition of the historical event The Renaissance in Acquasparta. The celebration commemorates the arrival in the city, in 1614, of Prince Federico Cesi II, known as Il Linceo, and his wife Artemisia Colonna, honouring the historic link between Acquasparta and the Accademia dei Lincei.

The festival will open with the evocative Grand Parade of the Contrade, featuring participants in Renaissance costume parading through the historic centre. Over the following days, the city’s three districts – Ghetto, Porta Vecchia and San Cristoforo – will compete in a series of events: the Gastronomic Challenge, presenting dishes inspired by 17th-century recipes; the Theatre Contest, with performances based on texts predating 1630; and the Great Game of the Goose, a spectacular life-size version of the classic board game. Additional popular competitions will include the drummers’ contest, the Ladies’ Games, and the Little Goose Game.

The central theme of the 2025 edition will be: "Heretical Visions. The earth around the sun or the universe around God. The – complicated – relationship between science and faith." The theme will be explored through talks and cultural events, reflecting on the Renaissance conception of humanity as a central figure between knowledge and spirituality. Particular attention will be given to the astronomical revolution that saw the shift from the geocentric to the heliocentric model.
