European Heritage days
"European Heritage days" are celebrated on September 24 and 25 with special openings of places that are usually not open to the public, special guided visits to monuments, archeological areas and museums.
The initiative, that involves archives, foundations, libraries and galleries, offers several cultural events all over Italy, in a journey to discover the national artistic beauties.
The 2016 edition will be focusing on the topic of participation to the heritage, carrying on topics and contents developed on the occasion of last July's "Museums festival", shifting the attention from museums and cultural places to citizens who represent their potential community of heritage.
Umbria also adheres to the festival, with many appointments all over the region, from the Wine's Museum in Torgiano to Palazzo Vitelli S.Giacomo in Città di Castello, from the Ducal Palace in Gubbio to the Umbria National Archeological Museum in Perugia, to discover Umbria's cultural, artistic and historical treasures.
European Heritage Days will take place:
- Saturday 24 September with usual times and prices during the day, plus a special evening opening lasting three hours whose symbolic fee is 1 euro, following gratuitousness usually provided for by law.
- Sunday 25 September – with usual times and prices.
