Eight Centenary of the Assisi's Forgiveness – Pope's Visit
The Assisi's Forgiveness is one of the most important and attended religious events in Umbria.
In 1216 Saint Francis asked and got the indulgence from Pope Onorio the Third and, since then, thousands of people, between the first and the second August, cross the Porziuncola's threshold to receive the grace.
This year marks the Eight centenary and the celebrations will be particularly felt, in view of the Pope Francis' visit who, on the 4th August, is going on a pilgrimage to the Porziuncola.
Three are the moments that will mark the pilgrimage: the personal prayer at the Porziuncola, a meditation proposed to all those present, and finally a meeting with the friars that are guests at the Porziuncola's provincial infirmary.
