Easter in Terni
Terni On Good Friday in Terni, the Procession of the Dead Christ takes place, departing from Piazza San Francesco at 21.00. The route goes through various parts of the town before returning to the Piazza. Also on Good Friday the Via Crucis takes place in Marmore, with the historical re-enactment of the Passion of Christ: from the church of Marmore (where the scene of the Last Supper will be re-enacted), going through some of the town's squares and characteristic locations, leading to the Parco dei Campacci, where the last stations are portrayed (his trial, crucifixion, death and resurrection). Among the sports events, instead, on the 13th March the "Maratonina di Pasqua" (Easter Half-Marathon), with both competitive and non-competitive routes. For more information: |
Arrone After the Via Crucis which leaves from the church of Santa Maria on Good Friday, on Easter Monday, the traditional Fair will be taking place at the sports grounds.
Ferentillo On Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, the "Festa De Lu Ciuccittu" returns to Ferentillo, now in its 45th edition: this ancient country custom involves two players, the "ciucciettari", who repeatedly knock the pointed end of their egg with their opponent's one. The winner of this egg-tapping challenge is the participant whose egg remains intact. During the event, you will also have the chance to try local food and wine products. Vasciano (a hamlet near Stroncone) On Easter Monday there is a procession, which will be setting off at 9.30, to Speco Francescano grotto near Narni, after which there will be an exchange of gifts between the communities of Itieli and Sant'Urbano, an open-air mass and the release of some doves as a sign of peace. |
