On the occasion of the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the death of Pietro Vannucci, known as Il Perugino in 2023, Città della Pieve, his hometown, intends to pay homage to him with Al battesimo fu chiamato Pietro, Il Perugino a Città della Pieve, an exhibition event of the highest level, divided into thematic areas, to be held at Palazzo Della Corgna and the former Church of Santa Maria dei Servi from 1 July to 30 September 2023.

An initiative that intends to celebrate the Maestro through iconographic focuses corresponding to the prestigious works left by the Divine Painter in Città della Pieve, such as the Adoration of the Magi, l’Adorazione dei Magi, l’Adorazione dei dei Pastori nell’ Oratorio dei Bianchi, il Battesimo nella Cattedrale, la Deposizione dalla croce e il Compianto sul Cristo morto in the Church of Santa Maria dei Servi, which represent some of the most interesting moments of his innovative artistic career.

Not forgetting the altarpiece depicting the Madonna in Glory and Saints Gervasius, Peter, Paul and Protasius in the Cathedral and the mock altarpiece dedicated to St. Anthony Abbot in St. Peter's Church, an interesting compositional solution, set in a scenographic-architectural trompe d'oeil with which he expresses himself for the first time Il Perugino.

From 21 July it will be possible to participate in a guided tour behind closed doors and at night of the exhibition: every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in July and September and every evening of August, at 21:00.

This review of appointments Perugino 500 by night will give the opportunity to each participant to discover the works exhibited in a unique way: the guided tour will be dedicated to a small number of participants, with the doors of the three exhibition venues closed to the rest of the public.
