Spoleto and the main theatres of Umbria will host, from 7 August to 24 September 2025, the 79th Experimental Opera Season of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto “A. Belli”. The programme offers six new productions ranging from classical to contemporary repertoire. The season opens with Nanof, the Other, an opera by Antonio Agostini dedicated to the figure of Oreste Nannetti, with performances at Teatro Caio Melisso. This will be followed by Liederabend, an evening of lieder at Sala Pegasus, inviting audiences to rediscover musical poetry in an intimate setting. Lisetta e Niso by Pietro Auletta will be staged at the Auditorium della Stella. At Teatro Caio Melisso, the triptych by Gino Negri—Giorno di nozze, Vieni qui Carla, and Il tè delle tre—will be presented, three short operas in prologue and one-act form, directed and designed by Pier Luigi Pizzi. The season concludes with a new production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro at Teatro Nuovo and other major theatres in Umbria. The performers will be the winners and qualified candidates of the 2024 and 2025 competitions, with the participation of the Calamani Orchestra. Further events are planned, including conferences, round tables, and exhibitions.
