Sagra Musicale Umbra

70ª Sagra Musicale Umbra (Umbrian Festival of Sacred Music)

The Sagra Musicale Umbra returns from the 10th to the 20th September, with a programme dedicated to the pursuit of spiritual understanding as expressed in music.

The Book of Psalms has inspired the seventieth edition of this festival, involving no less than eleven Umbrian towns, beginning with Perugia. The opening concert in the Cathedral of San Lorenzo will feature the Coro di San Francesco with the Orchestra da Camera di Perugia (Perugia Chamber Orchestra).

In addition to opening the festival, the event will kick off the late night "Mezzanotte bianca", art music appointments which will take place in some of the most enchanting locations in the historic centre of Perugia.

Assisi, Bevagna, Castel Rigone, Foligno, Montefalco, Panicale, Passignano sul Trasimeno, San Gemini, Torgiano and Umbertide are the other towns hosting the Sagra Musicale Umbra which concludes on the 20th September in Teatro Morlacchi, with the final concert performed by the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.

This event brings together different cultures, eras and art and, as on previous occasions, concludes with "Music of Hope": two concerts which will see the wind section of the Perugia Chamber Orchestra as protagonists.
