1900 Umbrian Ceramic – Experimentation and Innovation.

1900 Umbrian Ceramic – Experimentation and Innovation.

169 works made between 1940 and 2012, 103 artists and ten craft workshops: they are the numbers of the exhibition "1900 Umbrian Ceramic – Experimentation and Innovation", set up in the splendid spaces of the Assisi's Palazzo Monte Frumentario.

The exhibition, open until the 31st October 2016, occupies three halls of the historical building and it is divided in nine sections that, one after the other, tell the phenomenon of the recent Umbrian ceramic, offering an evolutionary perspective focused on the innovative and experimental emergencies, frequently shown in many areas of the region.

The long-standing Umbria's ceramic tradition has its heart in the villages of Deruta, Gualdo Tadino, Gubbio and Orvieto, but all its territory has been always involved in the production of valuable terracotta, such as Città di Castello or Umbertide.

An ancient art handed down in time that is still alive today in the craft workshops and in the regional factories: styles and colours have different histories and origins, yet all are equally fascinating.
