Lights on Lake Trasimeno
The fourth edition of “Luci sul Trasimeno” will be held from 8th December 2023 to 6th January 2024 in Castiglione del Lago.
The village will be pervaded by scenic effects, lights and colours, and the protagonist will be, as every year, the World’s Biggest Christmas Tree built on the waters of Lake Trasimeno.
It will be 30 exciting days filled with shows, attractions and entertainment for children, adults and families.
The absolute star of the event will be the big tree on the water with its astonishing numbers: 1,080 metres long, 50 metres wide, over 7,000 metres of cable, 166 supporting poles, and no less than 2,400 perimeter lights powered by electricity produced from renewable sources. The latter will be the best “solidarity gift” to give at Christmas: with the “Adopt a Light” project, it will be possible to actively support the protection of biodiversity through the adoption of beehives and entire bee colonies.
But that’s not all: inside the Rocca del Leone there will be an unprecedented videomapping for a unique immersive experience produced by the company Int.Geo.Mod., which this year has decided to transform the ancient stone walls and the imposing trees of the inner garden into magic screens to narrate fantastic scenarios of the ordinary world. Capturing the audience’s attention will be “Il Natale di Pi” (Pi’s Christmas), the story of a young boy, child of modern times, who lives locked up in his room far away from the magic of the festivities, until a special character shakes him up and brings him back to live his life to the fullest, rediscovering the Christmas spirit first and foremost.
Also completely new is the location of the renovated Santa Claus Village. Here, to welcome children and guide them through various activities, there will be many friendly elves and the ingenious little fish Ascanio, the “real” inventor of the Christmas tree on water. In addition, the entrance ticket for the “Tree Route” (which can only be purchased on site at a cost of €8 per person - free entrance for children up to 12 years of age) will also allow access to Palazzo della Corgna, where the exhibition “Presepi d’arte e di luci - la Natività nella storia dell’arte” will be set up, with a tribute to Gerardo Dottori, an immersive multimedia installation by Movimento Creative Label and an exhibition of works by Antonio Folichetti, Mario Sciarra and Giuseppe Magnini.
Also confirmed are the Christmas Market (from 8th to 10th December and from 15th December to 6th January), the entertaining “Castiglione del Lego” exhibition dedicated to building with the famous bricks, and the second edition of the “Luci sul Trasimeno” running trophy, organised by the “Filippide” Sports Group. Lastly, because one cannot talk about “Borgo delle Feste” without good food and drink, the increasingly well-kept and charming “Piazzetta del Gusto”, full of the best local delicacies.
