On Thursday 18 July 2024, it will be possible to take part in the only Umbrian date of the recital "Il mio cuore è con Cesare" (My heart is with Caesar) with Alessandro Preziosi and Umbria Ensemble, in Spoleto, at the Complesso Monumentale di San Nicolò, starting at 9.30 pm.
The show retraces the tragic event of the Ides of March recounted by Shakespeare in 'Julius Caesar', starting from the point of view of the four protagonists Caesar, Mark Antony, Cassius and Brutus. The story begins with Antony's famous funeral oration, which frames a drama in which the characters, conspirators or loyal to Caesar, are completely ambiguous, neither positive nor negative, neither light nor shade, but are mainly politicians acting as a consequence of or in the name of Power. They are souls driven by Ambition. And Ambition is ambivalent by nature, never just good, never just bad. They all act without any scruples even when they seem to be doing it for good. The end justifies the means.
