VI Festa di Scienza e Filosofia (Science and Philosophy Festival)
From the 14th to the 16th April, in the town of the "Quintana", four days of conferences, meetings and debates, as well as activities specifically aimed at schools and students: the "Festa di Scienza e Filosofia - Virtute e Canoscenza" ("Science and Philosophy Festival- Virtue and Knowledge") returns to Foligno.
The main theme of this sixth edition is "Il coraggio di conoscere" ("The courage to know"), to be interpreted as an invitation for everyone to use their own intellect, without being led by others.
This theme will be discussed by scientists, philosophers and journalists as well as men and women of culture, in four different areas of in-depth analysis: "dialettica fra scienza e filosofia" ("Dialectic between Science and Philosophy"), "cervello e mente" ("Brain and Mind"), "una scienza per l'uomo" ("A science for Mankind") and "La scienza: lo strumento del XXI secolo" ("Science: the tool of the 21st century").
The common theme of all the events scheduled is science, which is able to not only explain what happens around us, but also change the way we make things, work, move, buy and communicate, shaping our way of living and thinking.
Ninety-two guest speakers will be taking part in a total of 114 conferences, which will be held in Foligno's main historical palazzos and theatres: the physicist and geneticist Edoardo Boncinelli, the philosophers Giulio Giorello and Silvano Tagliagambe, Massimo Inguscio, president of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (National Research Centre), Fernando Ferroni, president of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (National Institute of Nuclear Physics) are only some of the names on the programme.
