St. Michael's Palio
Bastia Umbra has been celebrating for over 50 years the patron saint with St. Michael's Palio, the ancient challenge among the four town's districts.
From September 19 to 30 Portella, Moncioveta, St. Rocco and St.
Angel will challenge each other to conquer the aimed drape, painted for each edition by a different artist.
The Palio will start with parades, real theatre performances and will go on with games in the square, such as tug-of-war and sack race up to Lizza, the return relay from St. Michele Arcangelo Church to Town Hall. The Palio will be awarded at the end of the race to the District that got the highest score in the three competitions.
Every evening taverns will be open and will offer Umbrian typical dishes, as well as music and entertainment.
