Colomba da Rieti and Giuseppe Viscardi
"Colomba da Rieti and Giuseppe Viscardi. Art and popular devotion" is the title of the exhibition promoted to celebrate the 550th Colomba da Rieti's birth anniversary, one of the most significant figures of the Humanistic and Renaissance age.
The exhibition, open from 25 November 2016 to 5 February 2017 at the Perugia's Chapter Museum, promotes a focus on the local devotion to Colomba da Rieti through researching Perugia's artworks and artists.
It's a unique occasion to rediscover four artworks devoted to the Saint coming from different collections: two unpublished artworks from the painter Giuseppe Viscardi belonging to the Marignoli Collection in Montecorona di Spoleto, an artwork made by Giovanni Antonio Scaramuccia coming from the Umbrian National Gallery and an artwork from a painter of Central Italy belonging to the Perugia San Giovannino 17th century-oratory.
