2017 Umbria Jazz

2017 Umbria Jazz

We can tell you the streets of Perugia's historical centre in those days of July by following the blues notes of B. B. King's guitar, or accompanying piano melodies of Keith Jarrett with the voice melodies. We could also tell you the emotion of hearing Sting's and Eric Clapton's chords, but it wouldn't be enough to talk about Umbria Jazz, the international festival devoted to Jazz in all its nuances, that has been taking place since 1973 in Perugia.

Across 10 days, from the 7th to the 16th July, the big space of St. Giuliana's Arena and the fascinating stage of Morlacchi Theatre are going to host important names of the international musical landscape.

Some of Umbria Jazz's guests, this year, are going to be Kraftwerk, Brian Wilson,  Enrico Rava, Fabrizio Bosso, Stefano Bollani, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Wayne Shorter, Paolo Fresu, Gino Paoli, Danilo Rea and many other jazz and blues musicians.

Walking in the places of the historical centre you will be accompanied by a unique leitmotif: jazz's notes. The day in the IV November Square, the heart of Perugia, and of Carducci Gardens will be marked by the several free concerts, whereas whilst walking along Corso Vannucci you may come across one of the famous Funk Off's street parades.

It's a unique occasion to see Perugia in one of its most vivid and particular times that made it an exceptional stage for international musicians as well as a delightful must for all jazz's lovers.
