2016 Umbria books
Perugia, Terni and Foligno are the towns that will welcome the new edition of "Umbria books", the literary festival that, since its origins, has tried to combine the national and regional cultural production, hosting big names from the Italian and international panorama, as well as promoting local publishers at the same time.
As every year, also for 2016 a topic combining meetings with writers, scholars, poets, philosophers, musicians and actors has been identified. For Perugia (11-13 November) "European Heart" has been chosen, focusing on France because of its significant role played to build an European Identity throughout history. For Foligno (18-20 November) "Border's crossroads" and for Terni "Cultural Transactions" (4-6 November) have been chosen.
The first names on schedule include: Dany Laferrière, Haitian and naturalized Canadian writer who won several prizes such as the Prix Médicis, the French war reporter Pascal Manoukian and the poet Maryline Desbiolles. As mentioned before, big importance will be given to Umbrian publishers: on one side with a permanent exhibition that will accompany Perugia's festival, on the other side with "Underhand Tales", the literary contest born to give visibility to young writers.
