From 29 to 31 August 2024 Castiglione del Lago will be the protagonist with Zigulí Test Event FEI Endurance European Championship, an event with the best athletes of international equestrian endurance, a preview of the 2025 European Championships.
The green area of the former Eleuteri airport, the beating heart of the competition, will be the starting and finishing point of the competitive course, which will wind its way entirely through Castiglione del Lago, amidst hills, medieval villages, and lake scenery. 
The competitions will be held for three different categories, over the 160 km distance, which will serve as a true test event for 2025, and also on the 120 and 100 km routes.
After the success of the 2001 European Open Championship and the 2009 European Championship in Assisi, the 2025 European Championship will be the umpteenth continental event to be held in Umbria, which thus confirms itself as the European capital of endurance.
