Colours of Mistery - Icons of Lina Delpero
Important will be the appointment with art and devotion organized by the Diocesan Museum Complex in July, thanks to “Colours of Mistery”, the artistic exhibition of the iconographer and painter Lina Delpero, hosted in the suggestive setting of the Church of St. Mary of Lay People called of Whites in Gubbio.
Lina was born in 1941 in Vermiglio, a village located 1300 metres high in the Trentino Alps, in a big farming family: the beauty of nature, the colours of clouds playing among the peaks of mountains, glaciers, flowers, forests of larches and firs, the water of brooks that falls rapidly and noisy from mountains, are images shaped forever in her inner soul.
In Milan she attended the art high school Beato Angelico and the faculty of Architecture. At the Catholic University of Milan she then attended with interest the classes of Religion and two years of biblical studies at the Ècole de la Foi of Freiburg, in Switzerland.
She has been creating images since she was 24 and considers this the most significant commitment of her life. Furthermore, Lina taught drawing and art history at the Scientific High School and at the Middle School. The contact with adolescent always made her enthusiastic and helped her to know in depth her job as iconographer. She writes her icons for them, for their families, beyond that for street people who write her icons. With the exhibitions made until now in Italy and abroad her goal is showing through the icon something filling the heart with hope and the eyes with beauty.
Thanks also to her many friends, her icons are already widely recognised almost everywhere, both in Europe and in other continents. For three times she represented the Italian art in London in the world exhibition Art in action, where just an artist for each nation is generally invited. The state of Malta, in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture, hosted her icons in the National Museum.
The icons exhibition of Lina Delpero will be open to the public until the 27th August.
